Bad Idea #127: Inviting The Vampire Into Your Home, “Green Grenades” and Ground Zero

by BloggyBayou on August 4, 2010

Let’s set the mood: It’s getting near midnight, it’s is a cold, damp foggy night, the moon is full and you are sitting in your old, overstuffed chair and the only light in the room is  the light of the wood that is burning in your fireplace and a small, glow provided by your small whale oil lamp…  You sit in your chair, contemplating the meaning of life and suddenly, three loud knocks come echoing from your old oak front door.  You gingerly pick up the whale oil lamp, shuffle to the door, slowly you open it and there is Bela Lugosi standing there.  His lips make a smile , but his eyes are those of a dead man, coldly staring at you, noting the pulse of your jugular vein. He asks, “May I come in?”

Every fiber of your being becomes taunt. You know the rules..NEVER EVER INVITE THE VAMPIRE INTO YOUR HOUSE.  It’s been drilled into your brain since you were four years old and started watching Saturday Afternoon’s “Shock Theater” on TV.  Your lips move to make the word “No!”, but before you can even mutter a sound, Bela whips out from behind him an Ice Cold six pack of Rolling Rock Beer, the infamous “Green Grenades” of your long lost youth , and says “Good Times Are Here Again!”  You look at the Beer, lose all sense of perspective and say “Hell Yeah, bring those puppies in!”

You Blew It! You are good as dead and ya got no one but yourself to blame…remember, NEVER EVER INVITE THE VAMPIRE INTO YOUR HOUSE.

This is the situation we got at Ground Zero in New York right now.  A radical Muslim organization with ties to terrorists want to build a multi-million dollar “Muslim Outreach Center and Mosque” within shouting distance of Ground Zero.  Mayor Bloomberg, the vast bulk of the loony left, the Democratic establishment and even alleged “Moderate” Republicans like David Frum are telling the American people that we must invite “The Vampire Into Our House” or we are religious bigots.  The Vampire in question is represented by Muslim funded “Cordoba Initiative” and its leader Feisal Abdul Rauf.

Cordoba was once the stronghold of Muslim Power in Europe till the Spanish finally kicked them out of Spain in 1492. Does anyone see the irony of the name of this organization?  It is sort of like Neo-Nazi’s starting the “Nuremburg Initiative” and are asking to build a Combination Beer Hall – Stadium for rallies in Tel Aviv.  Hey, you know with a name like that, they are all about making a fresh start and only have the best of intentions, right?

My position: Ground Zero, while it is being rebuilt for commercial reasons (You can’t turn the whole site into a memorial..it is too valuable real estate not to be put to productive use in downtown Manhattan) it is still hallowed ground for ALL Americans.  I know New York took the biggest (but not only!) hit that day, but Americans from all over this nation have answered the call to duty and died and shed blood to bring justice to the dead and to confront the evil behind this most terrible attack on American soil… Islamic Fascism.

Ground Zero Mosque Issue is not just for New Yorkers to decide, it is a question and a duty of all Americans to make their voices heard and let the majority decide if they want this already compromised and ANTI-AMERICAN AND PRO-TERRORISM organization to be allowed to add insult to injury by building a mosque at a location they consider to be the scene of a great Muslim victory.  Remember the dancing in the streets across the Muslim world when 9/11 happened?  I do.

It is not religious bigotry to be opposed to the influx of radical Islamic thought and organizations into our society.  I have been to the centers of the most important sites of the Judeo-Christian ethic this country was founded upon: St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome, The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and (drum roll please) the Southern Baptist Retreat in Ridgecrest, North Carolina!  What is most remarkable about all three of those places is I was free to enter and leave (Got me a Pope John Paul II refrigerator magnet at the Curio Shop at the top of the Basilica at St. Pete’s) and if I wanted to, I could say out in the open, at all three sites: “I do not believe in your God and I disagree with your religion and do not want my children to follow your core beliefs” and then walk away, unmolested, or if I so decided, continue to tour and visit the site without any fear of physical threat to me or my family.

Now riddle me this Batman: How long do you think I would last in any Mosque in Saudi Arabia, much less what would happen to me, a non-Muslim, if I managed to get into Mecca at any time and openly criticize Islam.

Islam is still a barbaric religion that is trapped in the Dark Ages.  The “Cordoba Initiative” and its leader Feisal Abdul Rauf are their acolytes and apostles.  Think of them as “Muslim Jimmy Swaggarts”.  They are here to convert the non-believer and once they gain a strong foothold, make an effort for their religious law to trump our civil law (aka: the Constitution).  This effort is already underway in Europe where Muslims have managed to start the governments to allow Sharia Law to trump civil law when it comes to dealing with Muslims citizens. Read about it here. And in neighboring Canada, the same battle is being fought.  Once Sharia law is an established right, the radical Muslims will then make it a push to impose it on Non-Muslims.  Do not think for a second that this is not a long term goal for the Cordoba Project in America.

Now it is time for Americans all over this country to decide: DO WE INVITE THE VAMPIRE INTO OUR HOUSE?

I say no.  It is only common sense. Despite the scorn form the left and self-hating Americans, it is defending the right of American Constitutional law over Islamic religious law. When Christians, Jews and Atheists can walk the streets of Mecca in absolute safety and whenever they want, just like Muslims can now walk the streets of Ridgecrest, North Carolina without fear..then I’ll reconsider my stand against Islam. But not before.

1.) The invitation requirement was invented by Bram Stoker, so it does not have the endorsement of Tradition a good conservative would deem necessary for it to be useful.
2.) Stoker invented it because he made his vampires _strong_, much as the “Superman” radio writers had to invent Kryptonite. Earlier vampires were, if anything, weak except when g
battening.
3.) The above is relevant to the political argument because the vampire being used as a metaphor is incredibly powerful, and can only be resisted by keeping him out .
4.) Muslims, even radical ones—among whom most who have looked at the imam in question have not classed him—are not superhuman. Radical Muslims who obey the law can be laughed-at, argued-against, and ignored as easily as any other adult with an imaginary friend. Those who do not obey our laws can be arrested. In any event, as I am not a Muslim, I don’t think they’ve got some god giving them an advantage in the marketplace of ideas, and I happen to believe that other, Western, ideas (e.g. democracy, modern capitalism tempered by strong unions and some good old Big Gummint intervention, equal rights for women and people whose consensual sexual preferences are different from mine, abortion rights, Epicureanism in its original sense, and universal health-care) are better than those of mediævalists of any stripe.
4.) To my Holocaust-surviving father, peace be upon him (as we say in Hebrew), the old “Cordoba” stood for tolerance, a Muslim city at the time in question, but one in which it was safe to be a Jew, as opposed to the Christian nation of his birth, where the pogroms remained even after the Germans were gone. Perhaps I am wrong, and the backbone of the proposed mosque are in fact intolerant fanatics—but even in that case, their using the name of a city Usama ibn-Ladeen would have _hated_ does not count for a deliberate provocation.
5.) Are all precincts of all Mormon temples accessible to all non-believers? Remember, some early members of that faith but a century or so back ruthlessly attacked one group of presumably upstanding pioneers, killed them, and then violated their property rights, pulling their guns from their cold, dead, fingers…. And why do some Jews persist in praying in Hebrew, and rendering halakhic law court decisions in that tongue and Aramaic—what are we _hiding_?
6.) Much of the recent invocation of Sa’udi Arabia reminds me of the wistfull way in which some American rightists used to speak of the straight hair, “decent” music, obedience, and lack of sexual freedom of the Soviet youth of the time. I, on the other hand, didn’t think a tyranny either a model of emulation or as being in any way a determining factor in what Americans do—and only the severely self-misled would consider throwing against of private individuals retaliation against a government they do not represent or can influence…unless, of course, They’re All in It Together, invocation of which I would _never_ characterise as a prima facie sign of being on the wrong track, though (to rip off Prof. Hugo Farnsworth) I’m _thinking_ it loudly….

Dear Ludwig: First, Get a sense of humor
Second: The worse thing they can do to me if I “invade” a Mormon “Holy Place”today is they charge me with trespassing…. I die, Period. if I go to Mecca.

Third: Don’t try to make a moral equivalence argument btwn the US and Islamo Fascists or even Saudi Arabia. It is a morally bankrupt argument. Western Values ARE morally superior to Islamic Fascism, whether it be Sunni or Sh’ia…

Once again, I point to Europe where they are already allowing Sharia law to trump civil law, are killing Politicians who oppose them and go about their merry way of Honor killing: What do you think will happen once they become 51% of the Population of England (they are on their way to that in England by the way)

You are willing to make a pact for self suicide for our country.. I am sorry, But Loony left NE Liberals misconstrued ideas that to have true liberty we must allow the monsters in and allow them to behave any way they want is not an option with me.

And In Cordoba, if you wanted to be a Jew or Christian, you had to pay the state the right to do it (Dhimmitude) …If your were Muslim and tried to go Christian, you died…you left out those facts…

As for the Christians, Most of the men from the US who died fighting Fascists were Christians and it has been good ole USA who have stood up for Israel and the greatest Friends Israel has can be found in the Modern evangelical movement..
(For the record I am Not Christian or member of any organized religion)

We are in a clash of civilizations and we are at war with a “Non-Civilized” religious/political system

Also: Ground Zero belongs to ALL of America, not NY and if you think that the reason for this Mosque is not to commemorate a great “Muslim” victory, I am sorry, but you are a fool….

Unless we are willing to start to stand up and say “You Know, Tolerance of religious based Fascism IS NOT an option (Just as Lynching by the Ku Klux klan wasn’t, (and we brought the full force to the FBI down on their head)’ Just as tolerance of religion that condones human sacrifice isn’t), then one day we are going to wake up and our daughters will be coming home with their faces and bodies beaten because they forgot to wear a burka.

If they want a mosque, go build it in Flatbush…

I don’t know if you have ever seen the HBO series True Blood and I have a hard time recommending it due to the nudity and bad language that is often in the show.

BUT, the premise sure reminds me of what we are facing with the Muslims.

The premise is that Vampires have come out of the Coffin so to speak. They say we have nothing to fear about them and that they aren’t going to kill humans anymore. Instead they are going to drink this”Tru Blood”, a synthetic blood designed to satiate the thirst of vampires.

Now you see the discussions being played out on television. And there is always this woman vampire spokesperson that is on all the Cable talk shows spreading the Vampire line (CAIR anyone).

BUT, when you get to what happens in the show itself it’s made abundantly clear that vampires who “mainstream” by drinking Tru Blood are looked down on by other vampires for not doing what they’re supposed to do and feed on living people.

So when you are listening to this Vampire lady on television you just know she is lying. Sure there’s good vampires out there like Bill but they are in the minority. Most of them do indeed want to drink your blood. It is in their nature.
