Well, well. The plot thickens.
Florida desperately needs an independent senator in Washington who will fight for good jobs and economic opportunity, a quality education for every child, and Social Security for all of our seniors regardless of what the political party bosses want,” said Sen. Lawson. “Charlie Crist will be exactly that senator, and I am proud to endorse his candidacy.” Continue reading →

Using the occasion of polling that trends toward him, Steve Southerland‘s campaign released this statement yesterday:
New reports by The Hill and The Cook Political Report continue to deliver more
good news for Republicans as Florida’s Second Congressional District, a once considered safe Democratic seat, continues to receive “pure toss-up” ratings. Incumbent Democrat and former Blue Dog Allen Boyd is facing the toughest election cycle of his career against Republican Steve Southerland due to his support of the Obama-Pelosi agenda, most notably his flip-flop support for Obamacare and vote in favor of Cap & Trade.
“These rankings and reports are reflective of what we are hearing on the ground in the district,” said Southerland Campaign Manager Jonathan Hayes. “Even after spending over 2 million dollars in advertising over the last year in the district, Allen Boyd barely scraped by in winning his democratic primary. Based on these rankings and recent polling, the people of Florida’s Second Congressional District seem to be saying – “we know Allen Boyd, we’ve had enough, and it is time to elect someone new.” Continue reading →

I’m reading the Deadwood Online Political Blogs and discovered that ”The Children’s Movement of Florida” has “announced” a Florida Governor debate dedicated to the topic of “Children’s Issues”. Here is a link to their stated primary goals.
Now, I know what I am about to say is probably akin to saying “Let’s Hold a Fundraiser to Drive Down the Cost of Euthanasia in Animal Shelters“, but yours truly will go ahead and say it. When I read who is behind of “The Children’s Movement Of Florida”, I found out it is sponsored by some major players on both sides of the aisle who have had major influence in both the media and government involvement in the Florida Public Education scene for the past 15 years. If you don’t believe me, just go here and look at the Steering Committee. So please excuse me if I look askance at this organization as being willing, much less capable, to make the really hard decisions that is needed to address the state of our children’s schools. I mean, these are the people who have been, to a great degree, in charge or had major influence in our public education system. Continue reading →

This is an open letter to Richard Nugent, who is running for Florida’s Fifth Congressional District.
Look, I don’t really like you. You are the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the Republican Party. Your entry into thsi race and attacking Jason Sager personally, instead of sticking to the issues, has earn you many enemies.
However as loath as I am to admit it, you are a better choice than Jim Piccillo. That said, you really need to come out for Paul Ryan’s A Roadmap For America’s Future and you need to do that quickly.

Allen Boyd was meeting with voters in Cross City, Florida during the summer of 2009 when he held up a copy of the Health Care bill that had been passed by the Energy
and Commerce Committee. He said this:
“I cannot support this bill in the version it is in now,” he said. “We can do better. We can make it better.”
Well Boyd didn’t vote for that bill, but did vote for another one in March of this year. Nevermind the $31,000 in campaign contributions from his Democrat congressional colleagues he received during the same month.
This particular part of the August 17, 2009 article is indicative of the kind of trouble he’s made for himself with voters like these he met in the state’s Big Bend region: Continue reading →

Alex Sink, the Chief Financial Officer for Florida and Current Democrat Nominee for Governor, announced today that she is going to (drum roll, please) audit the Department of Management Services Courthouse Contracts. (cymbal clash).
The issue is over the funding and construction of a soon to be finished First District Court of Appeals Courthouse. Apparently, while she was CFO, the State approved and funded this huge new courthouse in 2007 and construction will soon be complete on it this November. Continue reading →
